Writing this on behalf of one of my sons, who is currently a senior taking a gap year, and applying to college next year.

GPA: 3.71/4.0 Unweighted GPA 4.33/4.0 Weighted GPA He has done 16 AP classes.

SAT: 1450 EBRW+Math and 19/24 Essay.

He wants to go to NYU Tandon School to major in Comp Sci. He has done AP Comp Sci, and another type of Comp Sci class that is supposed to be one level ahead of AP Comp Sci (I think its a course only his school really offers). He has is a member of his schools FRC Robotics Team, which from what I have heard is one of the best in the country. I am just noting this because it appears that Tandon cares deeply about students actual experience with engineering/computer science.

I can't seem to find any data online about average SAT Scores / GPAs online, so that is mainly why I am asking everyone here.

We are an Asian family if you want to factor that in.

He took a gap year so he could earn some money before college, and because he wanted to take some time off before another 4 years of school, not for any other reasons.

And before you ask, yes we can afford it.
