Can you afford NYU? I know too many students who have been accepted & had to turn down their place b/c it is so expensive & the FinAid is *not* great. They do *not* promise to meet need. Journalism is not a career that you want to start with debt...

NYU is one of those places that are great for the extreme parts of the socioeconomic ladder.

Rich people love NYU aid- well because money isn't a problem at all.

Really poor people (sub 35k income) love NYU aid- recently 50k scholarships were handed out like there's no tomorrow. Part does involve merit (SAT score >1450).

Middle class people- unfortunately don't get much aid. 30k scholarship is still 20k required for tuition and more for housing.

You're absolutely right, they don't meet need at all.

As for the original post: Your sat is on the lower side, but you do have really good everything else. I'd say NYU is a target school for you.
