Another Stupid "Chance Me" Thread

I mocked people for making "Chance Me" Threads, yet here I am...
I'm a white, Roman Catholic, Upper-Middle Class, New Jerseyite, so right off the bat I think I'm at a bit of a disadvantage.
Thankfully, I test very well. I got a 2340 on the SATs, a 770 on the Literature Subject Test, a 730 on the US History Subject Test, have a 3.7 Weighted GPA, and am taking 6 AP Tests my Senior Year.
I'm Varsity Tennis Captain, and a Varsity Wrestler. I'm also a Boy Scout, not Eagle Scout though, which definitely hurts, and am a member of the Natl Honors Society and a member of my schools Model UN Club who's gone to Yale 3x for competitions. I have one great teacher recommendation and one probably decent one.
I want to be a Sportsjournalist, and I've been published online multiple times for it; I even was able to interview and write about two different Olympians, so I'm pretty good at it, for fear of sounding arrogant. I also interned at the MLB Fancave in NYC this summer, so I think that looks pretty good.
If you take the time out of your day to respond here, I'd appreciate it. If not, so be it. I totally won't find you and hunt you down.
God bless

Apply ED and you have a good chance. Good Luck!

I'm not ED'ing anywhere.... Do you think that affects my chances significantly? I'm afraid it does...

I think you have a shot ED. Last year they filled something like 45% of the class through ED so the numbers just get tougher for Regular. If you want to go to Journalism school, it would be an awesome choice and I would seriously consider ED. I think your writing experience is what will make the difference for you. Your GPA seems low especially given your test scores.

I was never a great class taker, sadly. Never really had the focus for it :( My family made the decision not to ED anywhere, because it absolutely butchers your chance of getting Merit Aid, so it looks like I'm just going to have to slug it out in the RD pool. If I do get in, I'm DEFINITELY going Medill, so I really have to make sure to play up the sportswriting stuff in their supplement, because that's a really unique thing to do, and perfect for Medill

As a rule, schools of NU's caliber don't offer much in the way of Merit aid, whether ED or RD, since virtually every admitted student would deserve it. I agree a 3.7 weighted GPA may not be adequate, but maybe by RD time you will have improved it.

    Best of luck to you!

The reason I don't ED isn't out of fear of not getting Merit Aid from NU, it's because that would take me out of contention at other universities, which would potentially give me m.a. Thanks for weighing in

NU has the best J-school, and you should see if you really love NU enough to apply ED. Don't base it on possibly merit aid if you definitely want to go to NU. If you don't, apply RD and hope for the best.
