I honestly just want to know everything about this place, it seems perfect but there hasn't been something like this for ONU since last year. Anything and everything helps.

My D and I just finished our campus visit to ONU today. We also saw Footloose on Saturday night. They did an excellent job and we loved the show She totally loves this place. It is very small and in the middle of nowhere but talking to the students today they told us they are way to busy with rehearsals to get bored plus tons of activities on campus. She loved the faculty and the students. We sat in a dance class today and she commented how much the teacher had a connection with the students. The Freed performing arts building has two theaters, a 551 seat theatre and a black box theatre. I thought the dressing rooms looked very spacious. They had an awesome set building area.

My D also liked is how ONU sometimes brings in guest directors to do their shows. A lot of the student says this is a great way to make contacts in the business. The students we talked to today already have jobs lined up this summer. Two students were missing today because they were in NY auditioning for Hairspray

As for double majors, I think that would not be a problem A lot of students we talked to today are double majoring. I'm sure if you email a admissions counselor they could answer your questions

All in All this program seems like a perfect fit for my D. The only thing that she does not like is that we live in Texas and ONU is in Ohio but she will adjust and so will I. I am sure the first snowfall will be so exciting for her and she will be on the Tundra making snow angels and building a snowman :)

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Joan Robbins actually encouraged my S to minor in something when we visited so I don't think it will be a problem to double major. It might be challenging but they won't discourage it. The faculty is wonderful and my S loves the campus. We visited Lima, 20 min away, and there were great restaurants and shopping when the kids need it. We are in Atlanta so we are not close either.

Congrats redscorpion6 on your S decision. My D is strongly leaning on going to ONU. We had a great visit.

I was hoping someone might be able to help me out... I had read somewhere that Ohio Northern's credits do not 'transfer in or out easily'. Naturally I would not attend a college with the intention of leaving, but was wondering what they could have meant by this? Is the musical theater course structured differently to others in some way?

MT credits from most schools do not transfer in or out easily. Usually if you transfer for MT you can expect to repeat that year as most programs are designed uniquely.

My D will be attending ONU for MT BFA in the fall, and I'm thrilled. We visited the campus this past week, sat in on a couple classes, met several students and a few faculty. D really liked the people here. Small classes with intimate learning environment, and feels like individualized attention to students is given. Many performance and production opportunities, great facilities, guest directors brought in and master classes offered. Seniors have been successful at auditions in NY.

D and I were initially concerned about the remote campus location, but like another mentioned, the students said it wasn't really an issue for them because there was always a lot going on (rehearsals, lcampus activities, studying). We are from SoCal and this will be is a big change for D, but she is very excited. Going to have to shop for a real winter wardrobe! Will have to see how she feels after her first winter there :D

ONU provided a very generous financial package that really made us take a look at this school, and I'm so glad we did. D ended up really liking the program and atmosphere. She has a few other options with more well known schools, but I would be looking at a lot of debt even with the scholarships they offered. I feel so fortunate that she has this opportunity and will be attending ONU in the fall!

@natlantastudio, Ohio Northern is a #2 in US News & World Reports regional college rankings so academic course transfers will be fine. MT credits are always hard because most schools put transfers into their freshman class.

What in the world happened at ONU that Jeremy Czarniak is not returning?!?!? Has anyone heard? This REALLY concerns me. :( Any insight into which direction the program is headed is greatly appreciated. @rcpurple‌ have you heard anything?

@broadwaybum‌ hmmm...From My understanding, he's not happy at all that his contract wasn't renewed. I can't imagine he pursued another opportunity.

When we visited in March, we were told he was moving to NYC to pursue acting roles for his own career....they said they had lots of candidates and were excited about the possibilities.

But we are prospectives, so it was a very positive vibe being put out.

When we were there March 31/April 1 and he was very much indicating that he was staying. In fact, he was talking about looking for a job for his wife. To me that is not someone that was planning on leaving anytime soon. It is strange indeed.

He sent my D an email saying he will not be returning in the fall and that his contract wasn't renewed. I guess the good news is that the program is phenomenal regardless, as are the campus, students, course offerings, faculty, and small class size

My S had a great response when he got Jeremy's email. He said, "You attend a school for the program not for a person". We have tremendous confidence in the program. Jeremy told us he was living in Pittsburg on the weekends so we questioned how long he could keep that up.

He responded to my D's acceptance email. I'm sure they will find a great teacher to replace him.
