Pretty sure you need a 2.5 minimum to even apply.

Minimum GPA to APPLY is a 2.0, I believe. A Competitive GPA is around a 3.0, give or take. However, I have heard stories of people, especially Ohio CC students, getting in with around a 2.5. So if you are an Ohio resident, I think you have a chance. If not, be sure to write a kickass personal statement.

I'm an OOS! I wrote a good personal statement. I know the minimum is a 2.0 just to apply. When I called the lady (she sounded like a student worker) said a competitive GPA as a transfer was a 2.5 so with a 2.4 I'm hoping I have a chance.

Lexy, did you get accepted into OSU? I'm just wondering because I am transferring from Kent State to OSU and I have a 2.7 GPA.

I believe OSU, like most colleges, just wants students who won't fail and waste resources. If you have a low GPA, you should try to give OSU a reason to believe that you can succeed if admitted. Why is OSU a better fit for you than your current college and how will you be successful at OSU? Hopefully, you addressed this in your essay.

That said, I think most 2.0+ GPA transfers do get admitted although sometimes it is mid year rather than Fall semester and they end up having to find off-campus housing. That is not a big deal.

Just make sure you have a good plan when you are admitted. Choose a major that matches your abilities, interests and goals. Take the initiative to see advisors and instructors as needed. Good luck!

If you have a GPA that barely meets the requirements, then show OSU your other activities such as extracurriculars, community service, dedication to diversity (for some reason, they're HUGE on this).

    Hey everyone,
I applied to transfer to Ohio State for fall 2013. I am transferring from SUNY Alfred , and i'm from New York. I am in my first year, second semester at Alfred.

My college gpa is a 3.84. I have many extra curricular activities and leadership positions already in my time at Alfred. I study day after day, non stop to pursue my dream of OSU

The only problem is that because 30 credits aren't completed by the time of application, I have to send my high school transcript as well, which is really stressing me out. My high school grades were terrible, due to a variety of stressful circumstances. My high school gpa was a 77. I had many extra curricular activities there including leadership positions, in 11th and 12th grade.

I believe I wrote a very good college essay and personal statement as well, combined with 3 great letters of recommendation from college professors, none of which were required.

Do you think I will get in, due to my gradual improvement since 11th grade and especially into college, despite my poor cumulative high school gpa?

    Thank you very much

OSU deadline for transfer admission is May 1st. What I suggest is that you submit your application before then. And only your college transcript a week before the deadline. Your application will be incomplete for a few weeks to process the material you sent. Hopefully that will give you enough time to finish your current semester and send out your new transcript with the 30 credit hours completed and have them only evaluated that, and you won't need to submit your highschool transcript or SAT scores either.

i have also applied as a transfer I am instate but go to school in Northern Kentucky. I have a 3.75 gpa my first semester and am in an honor society and volunteer as a tutor at a church near by. I got a 21 on my ACT and graduate high school with a 2.6 gpa. I wrote a good essay about how underperforming in high school served as a wake up cool for me and how I have grown. I feel I have about a 50/50 chance of getting in. My application is currently in Evaluation, when i get my decision i will post and let you guys know to try and help give you guys know! Good Luck to everyone and Go Bucks!

hi I was wondering if anyone could help with a question I have for applying to OSU as a transfer.

I am having a technical issue with the essay portion of the application. When I try to copy/paste my essay from a word doc, the indent of the first paragraph disappears. I can't add a new one using "tab" because that will just tab me out of selecting the text box for the essay. I tried adding a few spaces to makeshift an indent. When I hit "save" those spaces disappear. I also tried copy/pasting a tabbed space, but same thing happens when I hit "save."

Anyone else having this issue, and anyone know of any solutions to this?

    Thanks in advance

Edit: I forgot to mention I am an international student and our deadline is March 1. just to letting people know

Hi i'm wondering how long do you guys receive the admission decision after being evaluated? My application has become under evaluation since 2 weeks ago. I am an applicant from CA majoring in industrial engineering. My GPA is 3.1 and have completed 61 units. I have taken most of the lower division courses such as three calculus classes, general college chem, and two engineering physics classes. I am so worried now.
