Looking to start a discussion for those applying for Morrill Scholarship. Have any applicants received word yet? If so, can you share when and how communicated? Thanks!

My daughter was awarded a Prominence scholarship. She was alerted
via email on 12/6 at 9 pm. (She applied in late Sept/early October and was admitted on Nov. 15 - we are OOS)

We're in-state. My daughter heard Friday through email - Morrill for full tuition, all four years. Couldn't be happier!

Also, she applied at the end of October and was accepted on Friday, Nov 15.

Has anyone who was admitted on Nov 22 been alerted about Morril?

Do they send rejection letters for Morrill? I got accepted on the 15th and haven't heard anything.
If I call admissions and ask about my status is there any chance they'll give it to me? I don't want to be pushy but I'm just really nervous waiting for a decision.

I think you can stack the National Buckeye scholarship on it and nothing else but i’m not positive.

You can not stack scholarships. The Morrill Scholarship is of higher value than the National Buckeye Scholarship.

"Merit scholarships are competitive and not guaranteed. These scholarships cannot be combined, with the exception of the National Buckeye Scholarship."

National Buckeye Scholarship "can be combined with the Maximus, Provost or Trustees Scholarship."

As Boomer1964 pointed out, Morrill Scholarship is a higher value than National Buckeye (even higher than National Buckeye + Maximus). Congratulations! That's an excellent achievement.

Although the university level merit scholarships listed at link above are not stackable with each other, other merit awards might be stackable with them.

For example, my D was able to stack additional merit awards with her Trustee award.

Can you stack with the Alumni scholarship?

I apologize for asking again, but if anyone has any information on the points I raised in post #7 I'd love to hear it!

@music394 I emailed the school and they said they will send rejection letters to all students who applied by the end of march. As for the status, I dont think calling would help. Its my understanding that they release decisions every two weeks and its pretty random when people get it. Good luck!

If you have specific questions about stacking a specific scholarship ask the contact for the scholarship and the FA office.

"Federal regulations require that external scholarships be considered part of a student's overall financial aid package, which cannot exceed the cost of attendance. Once a payment from an external scholarship is applied, your financial aid package may be revised to include the amount of the scholarship."

In other words, if you receive a full CoA scholarship (like Morrill Distinction), part of that award may be reduced if additional external scholarships are sent in. You can ask the FA office to adjust your CoA and they might if you have extra expenses (ex. if you are oos and have higher than average travel costs).

My best guess for whether an Alumni scholarship stacks (will reduce your net price) with a less than full CoA university level merit award is: Probably. But you should confirm before making a final decision by reviewing your Financial Aid Summary carefully.

Can we expect more Morrill scholarship decisions to come out tomorrow?

Morrill notifications are more random than Admissions. There was no pattern last year.

today's wave is for admission, not for scholarships

First notice of consideration for Distinction level comes in the original email that notifies of Prominence/Excellence. There is usually is a paragraph stating that you are still being considered for Distinction. My daughter (class of 2023) was notified of Prominence on 1/11/19, invited to Distinction weekend on 1/15/19. Distinction weekend was 2/22/19. Dinner on Friday night, interview on Saturday.

My DD20 applied to Morrill and did not originally select another honors program. She received an email asking her to choose one. She has done so. Does this likely mean she is not still under consideration for Morrill? There was not an option to say “Morrill is my top choice”. Are some students offered participation in Morrill and another program? We took it as an “or” not an “and” on the original application.
