OSU vs. Miami University - computer science/engineering?

My son is very interested in computer programming, computer science, engineering, etc... Are OSU's engineering or computer science programs dramatically stronger than Miami of Ohio's are? I see from Miami's web site that their Electrical Engineering program is still relatively new (it says it was first offered as a major in fall of 2003), but what about their other computer/engineering programs? My general impression is that Ohio State's engineering program is much stronger than Miami's, and that Miami is really more for students who want to go into business. Does anyone have any thoughts/information on this?

Honestly, there's no comparison between the two colleges. Ohio State is a nationally ranked engineering college with a dozen members of the National Academy of Engineering on Faculty, top doctoral students and massive amounts of cutting edge research being funded by both private industry and the federal government.

Miami has no National Academy members on faculty. In fact, there's only one at all the other Ohio public universities combined. They don't have doctoral programs or large amounts of research, which means that it is not an attractive job for top faculty.

My appraisal may be stark, but it's reality. There's no comparison between Ohio State and Miami regarding engineering. Were it business, Miami could make a stronger argument, but not for engineering.

A prominent Air Force engineer expressed the same sentiment as SH 60614 did to my S. OSU is very good in ME and EE. I would look at University of Dayton or UC before Miami in-state. UD is a private, but I have been impressed by their engineering grads

A belated "thank you!" for both of your responses!
