    Hey guys,
I'm going to suggest that you not post your SAT scores... It might "help" next year's pool in some ways, but Olin really looks at much more than test scores. Your personal qualities and passions matter a lot. And at CW and later, they don't even look at your academic record any more; it's all about whether you and Olin fit. If you guys really need to compare scores, I would suggest that you do it in private messages or something. This really isn't the place. I don't mean to be a downer or anything; just enjoy yourselves and don't worry about SATs any more. :) Feel free to disagree; it's just my 2 cents.

Molly, I know that's what counts it's just that we're so nervous about getting an invite and I want to know if I have any grounds. (Well, that's why I asked anyway).

I hope I do get to CW so I don't have to worry about scores anymore!

Invited and excited! (top 5 best days of my life)

    GPA 3.5 unweighted
Recommendations: I assume good, I picked teachers that really loved me

Extracurriculars: math team, AIME, National Art and French Honor Societies, Environmental Club, Jewish youth group, Junior Statesmen of America (HUGE cabinet position), iPod repair, Intern for NY times technology columnist

Essays: Again, relatively, I'm not sure, but I put as much Olin enthusiasm as I could possibly stuff in there :-)

I also submitted a DVD portfolio of some of my NY times work

I think it was my extracurrics and DVD that got me in (mixed in with a little Olin spirit)

    I LOVE OLIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Invited! :D:D (<-- I don't particularly like that emoticon on CC, but it's my favorite character-wise)

    My stats, modeled off zhbrass's:

    GPA 3.9 Unweighted
Recommendations: I asked my Calc and Physics teachers, who supposedly write good recs.

Extracurriculars: Science Olympiad (captain), DDR Club (co-founder), hospital volunteer (260+ hours), JV Track and Field, ARML, ACSL, club soccer, blogging, eating, etc.

Essays: My passion = blogging, and I tied in some of my other hobbies. For the Why Olin essay, I related Olin to the Free Parking space on the Monopoly board... do any of you remember Olin's Free Parking poster? I really took the poster to heart, and I do suspect that the essay gave me a little boost in the application process.

So overall? I think my essays gave me the biggest push.

    <3 I LOVE OLIN TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    6:45pm + no package = rejected :'(

    ACT: 33 (34 superscored)
GPA: 4.61 weighted (3.86 unweighted) [IB Diploma Candidate]
Extra-Cirrics: Boy Scouts of America, Anime Club, NHS, FIRST Robotics Team Captain and Lead Programmer
Awards: (the best ones) Masonic Achievement Award (top overall male junior), 2-time USA Biology Olympiad Semifinalist, Eagle Scout and Silver Palm, 7 weeks of semiconductor laser research and 3-time IB Student of the Semester award.

Not really an award, but I took Calculus III last semester and Differential Equations this semester which is pretty good.

Essays: My English teacher said they were two of the best he's ever seen.

I guess I didn't stand out... I probably just came across as your standard smart kid despite my best efforts to bring out my scouting and mountaineering passions.

As I posted in another thread, congratulations to everyone who got in. From the two profiles you guys posted I see why I didn't get accepted... better luck next time? Oh wait... there isn't one.

Aurona, you have a DDR club?

    thats sweet!
  • auronaaurona Registered User Posts: 202 Junior Member
Yeeeupp! It took almost 2 years to get the plan approved (not sure why), but we've been playing and having a blast in general this school year. So, does the "Dance" you included in your extra-currics include DDR? :D
