Online Certificate Programs credible for employment and worth time and money?

I have completed 3 years worth of a counseling degree. I am not confident that this is the way I want to go anymore. I am interested in horticulture, botany, and possibly turf management if I can find a good place of employment. I am looking at an online certificate of horticulture through the University of Illinois. Do you think that green houses, horticulture operations or lawn services will be more likely to hire me based on this certificate? Is it worth the time and money? I may want to further the degree but am just wanting to get an entry level position before I pursue anything further. Thanks.
