I was a little disappointed by Jaime's delivery too. It seemed a bit mumbled.

^^So far that's been my only complaint. DH doesn't hear that great to begin with, so I find myself translating a lot. Sometimes even I have to say "I have no idea" when I get the usual "What did he say?" from DH.

Does anyone else find watching the series affecting their thinking about Scottish independence? :)

The guy who plays Frank and Black Jack is great, as well as the actor who plays Dougal.

I read that they are not showing the show yet in the UK, because it might be very swaying. I understand that, and wouldn't want it shown either. I have no opinion about what is going on over in the UK, as I am not affected and don't know all the details...but I do know that watching the show definitely puts the English in a bad light and I think would sway voters.

    ^Interesting.

From what I understand, there are only 2 more episodes before a long hiatus. The series allegedly will do the entire book in 16 episodes. Any guesses where they will break in the story? Presumably it will be some kind of cliff hanger...

I think the cliffhanger will be at Craig Na Duhn when she is deciding whether to go or stay.

Unfortunately, I don't recall where the first book stops and the second starts. When does she meet Jenny? When is the witch thing?

Those are both in the first book.

The witch thing at Cranesmuir is before he takes her to the stones to decide. He takes her to Jenny after she's made her decision. I think the mid season ending will happen when he leaves her at the stones to maker her decision. It will be fun to see if I'm right.

If you haven't read the books, don't read my post.

I think the decision at the stones would be a very good breaking point, but I don't see how they'll could wrap so many story lines up to get her there in only two episodes, or if they do, we'll be short changed. My guess is that the half season will end at the arrest for witchcraft.

@coronax2, you have a point...with how slow this show is moving, they might not be able to get to the stones in only 2 more shows. There is also so much left after the stones, I don't know how they can do all that in just 8 episodes, either! I wonder what they will cut.

    SPOILER ALERT

Another good ending point would be when she sees the smallpox vaccine on you know who.

Having now read the episode description for next week, I think the season split will come even sooner than we're been speculating. I think it'll be (book spoiler)

when she makes her attempt to walk down the river bank back to Inverness and the stones. But ends up falling into the river only to be rescued by the Redcoats and escorted back to Fort William to face Black Jack Randall once again.

If that's the case, I'm even more surprised that they're going to wrap the rest of the book up in the next eight episodes. I think season 1 part 2 is going to be quite a roller coaster ride.

    SPOILER:

^^^^^I hope you're wrong. One of my favorite parts of the book was the heated exchange between Jamie and Claire after he rescues her:

"You're tearin' my guts out, Claire."

I also wonder how they will handle the domestic violence issue. Very sore spot right now.
