Hi everyone. Second time poster, long, long time lurker. Looking for some hopeful/helpful suggestions. D just realized she never sent ACT scores(not sending SAT) to one of her favorite schools!! One of her reaches. Complete app deadline January 3rd!!! Really thought we were on top of everything. She's had mono for the last month+ and is just now coming out of the fog. She really thought she sent it. She has a check next to the task on her chart. I should've double checked. She's so upset. Does this spell the end? Told her she needs to call admissions and at least tell someone they're coming. Everything else is in including the PROFILE. FAFSA will be filed Jan 4th by college aid planner. I think I'm going to be sick:(

Relax! Deadlines are only for her. All other docs and paperwork can follow.

Kind of takes the "Free" out of FAFSA, doesn't it?
    Deadlines are only for her

What does this mean? Pretty sure the deadline would apply to all applicants...

LOL. So true! But they've been super knowledgeable about everything Fin Aid. We thought it best someone else do our forms. The last time we filed anything(taxes) on our own we owed $3000 when our tax guy did it we got $1700 back. Didn't want to leave anything on the table:) You and Northstarmom have also been a wealth of knowledge. Thanks for all your posts this year.

I think what the poster meant is that deadlines are for STUDENTS....and it's understandable that scores and recs and transcripts might not make the deadlines.

To the OP....quickly send the scores (which you probably already have done.)

If her school has send transcripts, the scores are on that as well (altho colleges want to also see the official scores from CB and ACT).

Yes -- the deadline for applying is for the student part of the application. University of Texas, for example, insists that everything (including recs) be in their office by December 1st -- with the expection of testing done in December. Texas understands that the testing agencies are not withing the direct influence of the student. You are good to go.

Thanks Mom2. That's how I took it too. I did send them priority tonight and she can call tomorrow and tell them. They either won't care or maybe(hopefully) put a little note in file.I'm much calmer now. So so glad the applying is over. Now we wait for the aid packages.

You have also been a terrific source of info. this year. There are many out here who don't post but really appreciate all your expertise.

Yes, yes. I meant the deadlines are for the student, your daughter, to get the application and fees submitted. Some colleges state all paperwork must be submitted by their due date, but not all. I just wanted to send a quick post, since you sounded so frantic.

It's okay if your daughter didn't send in her scores - most of the time colleges tend to be send an email out as a reminder anyways. On the chance that your daughter's application is one of their earlier ones reviewed, they'll just put the application aside (but not ignore it!) until you get your scores in (they give you like 2 weeks to send them in after they send out an email). Don't stress out too much! Best of luck!

Thanks everyone! I WAS frantic. I'm going to bed feeling reassured that the world is not coming to an end and repeating to self- "whatever will be, will be." How hard it is to keep that thought throughout this process. You guys are great

I'm glad it looks like thing will work out. My college age daughter has mono now, and I can't imagine trying to get applications done at the same time. It's much worse than I realized. I'm glad that your daughter is feeling better and finishing everything up.
