Wow! This seems really scary. I've been thinking of DD as Class of 2014 but haven't focused on the next step of 2018!

I consider myself so fortunate since my D has already applied and been accepted by her top 2 choices. She even has her housing preferences selected. I wish it had been this easy with my oldest children. I still want D to apply to a few other colleges. She completed her Common App and essay over the summer so she can now focus on her massive senior workload.

I can't believe I am only the first page of acceptances, but DS got his FIRST acceptance today...Texas A and M. (I am so glad there is a thread to...brag!!) Anyway, just paid for a long weekend at the dorm, go to class and a football game for him at A and M...the S.E.A.L. conference.

It is pretty exciting, isn't it, parents, to see these kids get pumped up for the (almost!) real world!!

Several more applications in the works and already submitted, but there is nothing like your first acceptance. We are going to dinner as a family tonight to celebrate! His pick!!

Between now and Thanksgiving the pressure will be on to get all those applications in. Here on the west coast, the UC's don't let kids know till mid March. And many privates take through December. Lots of nailbiting.

First post for me...our only child has been accepted early decision to Auburn (his top choice). Some academic scholarship $$ already available, but he'll be trying for more by improving test scores, plus auditioning for music and band scholarships. If all goes well, he will be a 4th generation Auburn student (great grandfather graduated in the 1930's). We are absolutely thrilled!

First acceptance for our daughter to Willamette. Sort of surprised since just moments before checking the mail she got a call from a student saying she'd get notice end of December. Nice big scholarship offer that we didn't expect. Not her top choice but she was still really excited to have an official offer in her hands!

S2 got his first acceptance tonight, the day after Thanksgiving, to his big brother's alma mater, Tulane University! He also received a Distinguished Scholar award ($25K per year) and was invited into the Honors Program. He is very happy - although Tulane is not his first choice, I think it is becoming a very strong second, and there is some family history there. I couldn't be prouder!

DD has received acceptances with good scholarship offers (ranging from 10K to 16K per year) from KU, SLU, University of Oregon and Newman University (Wichita). She has received acceptances from Okla State, University of Oklahoma, University of Tulsa, and University of Arkansas.

There are going to be some decisions to make.

My daughter was accepted for Early Decision to Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. She has 30 days to accept and withdraw her applications from other schools. She fell in love with SLO and decided if accepted she would attend. At least it takes the suspense away from the decision!

Accepted to Whitworth University in Spokane, WA with a half-tuition scholarship! So thankful for rolling admissions; I got the decision within 2 weeks of submitting my application.

I'm thrilled-- and a bit relieved too, even though my stats gave me a guaranteed merit scholarship. It's safe to fall in love, now :)
