Mizzou. Guaranteed he will be admitted with a 27. It's automatic with a 24. It's a big fun sports oriented school that he might like.

What is life like at the University of Kansas? College Board describes it as a primarily commuter school, which seems a bit surprising.

http://www.collegedata.com/cs/data/college/college_pg05_tmpl.jhtml?schoolId=940 says that 62% of KU frosh live in the dorms. Although commuters are not the majority, they appear to be a greater percentage of students at KU than many other flagship state universities.

Kansas is not a commuter school. Lawrence is a college town and does have neighborhoods of houses that students rent - they're not typical commuters. Freshmen not living in dorms would typically live in fraternities (rush occurs in the summer before orientation and students choosing to live in the fraternities are released from their university housing contract) or in Naismith Hall (a large private dorm).

My S went to KU. It definitely does NOT feel like a commuter school. Students that live off campus are mostly in houses and apartments within 5 minutes of campus, many within walking distance or on the school shuttle routes. Lawrence is very much a quintessential college town with a great atmosphere.
