It's really great hearing about acceptances coming in now - the past few months have been so stressful! Congratulations to all of you! DS has applied to 11 schools and has heard back from 5 so far - all acceptances (Ithaca, Guilford, U of South Carolina, U of Central Florida & Bowling Green State). He's due to hear from UMass & Elon next week (early action at both) but now I'm hearing that UMass was sending out acceptances at a trickle last year, all the way to nearly February. UMass is one of his top choices - don't know if we can stand the wait

DD deferred from her top choice, Tulane. Very competitive pool of applicants lately, and esp. this year, it looks like. But got notice of acceptance today at Gustavus Adolphus (rolling admission -- gotta love those rolling admissions!) Gustavus is a good solid school not too far from where we live. It is nice to know that someone wants her, after receiving that disappointing news (though not really unexpected as Tulane is her *reach*).

@mstee I really wanted my daughter to apply to Gustavus but it was "too small" for her. Oh well. I have never met a Gustie who was not a nice person.

My best friend attended GA and loved it! She had the opportunity to travel abroad, too. It was completely different than the ginormous university I attended. I have to say I'm a bit envious of her experience. It will all work out in the end.

Congrats to all the acceptances so far. And good luck to those still waiting. @mstee I hope your daughter gets great news in the spring.

Last week my daughter received the news she has been accepted to her dream school, TCU (ED). She had been previously accepted to Texas State University and Stephen F. Austin State University (both rolling admissions) which were ultra-safeties, neither of which she really wanted to attend. I was surprised how torturous the wait felt. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that has felt that way. It is a such a relief to get this news and a terrific early Christmas present from TCU!

DS got a rejection from Wharton (a long shot in my mind). He is disappointed. So far none of his friends got into the top schools yet. Some are waiting on MIT, Yale, etc. We are waiting for the other school he applied, U of Michigan. This is really our top choice in my mind because it's in-state for us. I really hope we will hear good news on Friday. Otherwise, he needs to apply to Michigan State, which is not a school we are looking forward to given his sister is in U of Michigan.

@JH8888 Sorry to hear the Wharton news. Fortunately, your state has a world-class public university at a superb cost. Our state has a good public university but the cost is higher than most.

Hope you hear much better news from U of Mich

@mstee Congrats on the acceptance. Eckerd is in a nice location too. I'd do a little nudging for her to accept the offer so you'd have an excuse to go to FL often.

    It's such a beautiful state.

Haha -- yes. I want to visit Florida often, now that I live in Minnesota. :) Eckerd looks like a really neat school. We are all excited to have the opportunity to go check it out!

My D is in at Eckerd. She liked it (we visited last year), but seems like she probably won't go there. Her little sister is totally decided to go there (class of 2024 HS! so probably will change her mind).
