Anyone familiar with Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK)

Is anyone familiar with Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK), the national leadership honor society? I have checked out its website and it appears to be legitimate. However, is it one of those honor societies that asks basically almost everyone to join or is it a true 'honor' to belong? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I am only slightly familiar with it but my impression is that it is a legitimate honor and although you have to meet certain specific criteria to be invited to join, not everyone who meets the official criteria gets in.

I was tapped for ODK over 30 years ago! It is a legit honor society. Became a memberof this group instead of Mortar Board. Our small LAC did not have a Phi Beta Kappa chapter.

It's legit and VERY popular among my students who, in addition to being academically talented, are very heavily engaged in service.

Like all other clubs, the manufacture of distinction.

It's a legit honor society and very much respected among the students at the college where I work.

Definitely a true honor - what Phi Beta Kappa is to academics, ODK is to leadership. Invitations are extended to a limited number of campus leaders as voted upon by the current membership of the Circle.

My DH was in his top-25 university's ODK chapter many years ago. It's definitely legit.

Overall, it's legit...the actual honor it's worth though varies depending on what school you're at. There are some ODK Circles which are extremely active and prestigious (IIRC University of Alabama's circle is one of the highest honors on campus). Other places it's less active/less exclusive. But then again, because it's national, it might hold more weight in being recognized over the local traditions - eg. the Innoncents at UNebraska; QEHB @ Mizzou; Iron Arrow @ Miami - that are typically higher honors on campus but don't transfer to a broader audience beyond alumni.
