I Dont Get It, How!?

Can someone give me some stats on where Drexel ranks in medicine and whether it's a good school or not. I'm just very curious because I have a friend who did not do very well in high school, yet STILL got into there 8 YEAR MEDICAL PROGRAM... I dont mean to sound jealous or anything, im happy for my friend, I got into a good school, I just cant understand how someone can get into a medical program with these grades and test scores. From what I've seen so far, these combined degree programs have high requirements, but I guess not.

This is what her high school transcript is like
FL Asian Female
3.0 gpa
1100 sat
rank>100/500
high income family
Only ap class passed:
Biology: 3

It's not really a highly regarded med school but it's in a good location.

I was in that med program but transferred out to go to a better undergrad, since I didnt like drexel that much. The program is also binding so you cant really apply out since they wont grant you your bachelor's degree until midway through med school. It's not that difficult of a program. When I was in it, you only really needed a 1300 and decent grades and interview to get in. I guess they dropped their standards a little bit.

the eight year early assurance program at drexel is only open to students who are juniors at drexel university...the 7 year BS/MD program has a combined verbal and math MINIMUM requirement of 1360 so i don't think your friend got in....

o.O, is it an md program or a do program? if it's an md...i'm sure many people on these boards will be crying now =(

from what I understand, the Drexel program isn't really an 8-year med program like those at other schools. Instead, it's more like a type of thing where, if you get into it, you'll have a really HIGH CHANCE at their med school (but not a guaranteed spot)... am I right or wrong?

I thought Drexel only considers applicants who are top 10%. She is barely top 20%, so how did they even consider letting her having an interview?

1360...many of us out there are definetely crying, many w/ 1500+ sats probably won;t even be getting into any md school in the us after undergrad...

Since when have high school grades and SATs mattered in medical school admissions? I thought it was soley based on ECs, MCAT, College GPA, the application, and interviews???

Hmm Drexel...someone I know got into their 7year med program. Idk wth it was but it was an accelerated med school program for sure. He had like 1450 SAT, was in PA Gov. School, and i'm sure he had an excellent GPA. I def. don't think your friend got in with those stats lol.
But then again, Drexel, compared to UPItt, is much much more lenuient with their accelerated med school thing.
