Interview Doubt!!

edited January 2013 in Princeton University
I got am e-mail from Princeton day before saying that a certain Princeton alumna would contact me very soon for an interview and also gave me his email id. Just wondering how long does it take, usually, for an interviewer to contact the interviewee after the initial message from Princeton. Also, I'm currently out of station, so what happens if the interviewer calls up my home no. and doesn't receive an answer?? Do they contact you by email??

I'm an international student, without much knowledge about how the interview process works and people around me are quite clueless, so would appreciate any clarification regarding ^ that!!

Thank you in advance!!

They have until the end of Feb to meet with you. It's informal. There's no set period/method which the alumna will contact you. Don't worry.

I got an email from my interviewer literally 10 minutes after Princeton sent me the heads up email, but I don't know what the norm is. Just make sure to check your spam folder regularly, because it might be in there. That's where mine was.

    Are you an International Student??

Yes I am. Also, don't be too worried about the interview! Like T26E4 said, it's informal.

I suppose it depends on the interviewer you've received, but I had an interview in Berlin in time for Early Action (not an int'l myself, but taking a gap year in Germany). Although the distance I had to travel was considerably greater than if I were still at home in Princeton, everything was professional and replies to my emails were prompt.

Get in contact with your interviewer ASAP and make sure you get it. It's informal, but important. I had a friend who got in EA because of the interview, where the interviewer liked him enough he was flat out told that he would do everything in his power to get him accepted. Seriously, it might be informal, but it can be the difference between a rejection and an acceptance. And said friend originally was forgotten about interview-wise, but he contacted his interview and only then recieved it. He might have not gotten in had it not been for that interview.

I was informed that I would have an alumna contact me for EA, and it took almost 2 weeks for that person to do so, so you shouldn't worry too much. If they miss you when they call, you'll probably get an email.

Thank you all for your replies!! I guess I'll wait till mid January (my exams are going on right now) and after that, if I am not contacted yet, I will send him a prompt e-mail!! :)

    ^ Is this approach fine??

Hey I'm an international student too...and I too got a mail from my interviewer after about 10 mins or so...and I'm completely psyched out!!! Are the interviews very important?? Do you have any idea what do they ask???

    ^ Where are you from??

Ohh God - Why can't my interviewer save me the suspense!!

The interview is the least considered part of your application. Don't stab them across the table and you'll be fine.

    Relax.
