I totally agree about this awful wait! I think that decisions will be mailed/received around/by April 1.

Damn it! People have been telling me March 18 (for MIT) is late as far as letter dates go, but nothing else even comes close to that early. I can't wait until April!

Would it be a good idea to call them and ask?

Also, does anyone know if they post their decisions on the website?

I don't think they do (they never mailed me a log in code, anyway), I'm pretty sure it's snail mail.

You should have received a login code by e-mail (a letter followed by 5 numbers) and you can use that to check that your app is complete, but I don't think they post decisions on that site.

    "Admission
    Application Status
    Application Complete

Your admission application is now complete. Decision letters for Freshman applicants will be mailed in late March. Decision letters for Transfer applicants will be mailed May 1."

Then it gives info on financial aid. It's possible the letters are already in the mail... who knows.

Edit: I applied online w/ the common app though... mailed apps might not have online status checking.

I just recieved an e-mail telling me that there was "important news about my application", saying I should go to a link below. I followed the link, which led to a webpage with a somewhat elaborate powerpoint-like show that ended in little fireworks and the message "Congratulations, you've been accepted to Reed College!". They say that packets should be mailed any time now. Also, when explaining the option of spending a night in a dorm, they had "While we make every effort to arrange overnights for as many people as possible, SPACE IS LIMITED. Or maybe it’s curved. Or shrinking. Or expanding. Or merely a figment of our imagination. " I love this college so so much : )

Yep, that sounds like Reed. I once got a postcard from them... it had some sort of horrid, macabre creature that seemed biologically feasible but nonetheless fictional drawn on it in silver milky pen.

    Congratulations!!

If you don't mind me asking, admitees, what are your stats?

  • jabberwocky66jabberwocky66 202 replies9 threads Junior Member
    sure:

    Decision: Accepted
    Major: English

    Stats:
    SAT: 2160 (800CR 650M 710W)
SAT IIs: 750 English 700 French 680 US History
APs: APUSH (5) English Lit (5)
GPA: er...school doesn't do gpa, but probably quite low--I do very well in my AP classes and very badly in my regular courses.
    Rank: no rank
Essays: Common app essay was good and funny, the Why Reed essay was aiming to show how my personality was like those of other Reed students, and the essay completed in coursework I submitted was a seven page-long synthesis of The Merchant of Venice and As You Like it. I think my essays had a lot to do with why I got in.
    Location/Person: Bay Area
    State or Country: CA
    School Type: Private
    Ethnicity: White
    Gender: Female
ECs: Head editor of school's litearture magazine, section editor of school's newspaper and, strangely enough, *bell choir*. Hard core bellchoir, though, none of that wishy-washy group-hand-chimes nonsense.
    Major strength/weakness:
Strength: SAT scores, anything I *wrote*. The trend for me has been that if I submitted anything I've written for an English class, I've gotten in.
Weakness: GPA...I think they may have been attracted to the fact that while I'm not a well-rounded student, I'm very very good at a few things.

I hope most of you decide to attend Reed, because Old Reedies like me have reached the stage when we need to be replaced and upgraded with newer models.

    (Congratulations everyone!)
