How big are the class sizes at RPI?

How big are most of your classes? I'm going to major in BME, and how big are the intro classes and how big are the specialized classes? Do the professors get to know you? How are the professors' office hours and how easy is it to find research opportunities?

My son just finished his sophmore year. He is a Chem Eng and most of those classes so far have like 50-70 students. These are the same students as they all have to finish the same set of core classes which have only one section. The more general classes like calc, physics, etc are larger .

The good part is that he has found the professors and advisors very easy to reach. Need an appt tomorrow with a dean, done. Mett a professor for advice, always.
