I'm a junior in high school and i just got the RPI medal for maintaining the highest math/science gpa. It seems most people that I've heard from only get the minimum $15k/yr for this award. What does it take to be awarded more than this? or do they not give full rides at RPI?

Here are my stats:
770/650 old SAT, 209 index new PSAT
GPA 99.??? weighted
5/390ish in class
EC's JV/V Football (2 letters), JV Baseball 1yr, FBLA, Weightlifting, probably could play football at RPI

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated, because it's gonna take a lot of $$ to get me to go to a school with 75% males :P

It's a great engineering school. Typical characteristics of an engineering college. Less girls (mostly ugly), difficult workload, lack of social life (altho not THAT bad, just join a frat). Great place to study (everybody does). Very harsh climate (winters are long and very cold, and there's no spring-just goes to a very hot summer). The city is a ghetto whose buildings are 200 yrs old and unchanged since then, and has about 50000 ppl-kinda small. Albany is close, but its the same just w/ 100000 ppl. Other than that, lots of other local colleges to find girls (U Albany, Skidmore, Siena, Union). Crossgates and Wolf Rd, Colonie have malls. Other than that, the area is kinda woodsy. Adirondacks, Catskills, and Berkshire Mountains are all closeby.

    That's my two cents.

um I dont think you answered his question...
Yes if you need or want to get more financial aid, there's no harm in trying. I was awarded no merit at first, but I re-applied for it (explaining why I should recieve more), and I got something called the "Leadership Award" which gave me $10k/year. They have a good number of merit awards, which are even listed somewhere on the rpi website
