Several threads have asked the question "is Rice just an engineering school" or words to that effect. I thought it would be useful to post the distribution of degrees awarded. The most recent stats can be found on the IPEDS web site:
College Navigator - Rice University
in the programs/majors subsection. If you are not familiar with IPEDS its a great resource when searching for colleges.

I don't remember ever seeing the IPEDS website before! Interesting to watch for new trends from the '09 to the '11 grads. Thanks so much, MSmom&dad!

I wonder what % of these are double majors. That will have an impact on the numbers

I don't think any are double majors (the numbers would have to be higher). The 797 total is about the number one would expect given Rice's grad rate and the retention rates. Rice's facts page:
    Degrees-Undergraduate : Rice University
shows similar total numbers, although there is not a perfect match (and Rice shows much less data). The IPEDS site is a Federal government site and presumably Rice supplied the info for that page.

**Having compared the two sets of data it looks like the IPEDS data is actually for the 2010 class.

If someone graduates with a BS in ChemE and a BA in English for example, the university hands out two diplomas and two degrees. They have to be counted somewhere. Although 797 for all is way too low.
