Rice supplement essay

Hey, I am really confused about this question:
The quality of Rice's academic life and the Residential College System are heavily influenced by the unique life experiences and cultural traditions each student brings. What personal perspective do you feel that you will contribute to life at Rice?

I am not sure how to approach the question. I tried writing about how coming from a polygamous family has made me who I am and how I relate to people because of this? Does this sound like a strong essay?

Make sure you talk about your perspectives and ideas as they were influenced by experiences and circumstances. Make sure the focus is not on the experiences and circumstances though but how you perceive them or were influenced by them.

As this was a major influencing factor on your life and how you see the world, then I do not see any reason why this could not be a strong essay.
