Rice/Baylor Questions

I was wondering if legacy was a factor for being chosen for the Rice/Baylor Medical Scholars Program. My dad went to Baylor College of Medicine, so I was just curious if this might help in any way (since I know that competition is very tough). Also, I was wondering what is the most important factor (if any) to get into the program. Is it important to have help a job in a hospital (or something similar), have strong test scores or write good essays? Hopefully someone in the program or someone who knows about the program personally will share some information. Thanks.
