should I send in this act score?

neutrinopeneutrinope Registered User Posts: 3 New Member
hi guys,

my best act score is a 35 composite: 36 eng (9 essay), 34 math, 35 reading, and 33 science. i retook (i registered before i knew i made a 35) in feb and got a 33 composite: 36 eng (10 essay), 35 math, 34 reading, and 27 :( science. should i send the retake to colleges (which superscore the act) since my math and essay scores went up, or will the drastic drop in science hurt my chances? (i'm a prospective science major btw).

thanks

I wouldn't bother. The composite wouldn't change and you should be in/near the top of the applicant pool with the original scores.

Thanks for your reply. I understand it wouldn't help me that much to send it in. However, if I were to send in the retake, could doing so hurt my chances? Or could it only help me (if only very slightly)? I'm afraid that 1) sending in a retake of a 35 might make me appear obsessive about standardized testing, 2) the fact that I would be paying to send in scores that improved by such a small amount might make me appear as if I don't have my priorities straight, and 3) adcoms might see the 27 on the science and question my previous science score of 33. However, if these concerns are unwarranted, I would like to send in the improved scores. Thanks again.

I'm pretty sure since the superscore it wouldn't hurt? but I mean those scores are awesome as it is and you only went up in one area by one point so its not really worth the hassle in my opinion. Just enjoy your composite 35 you're more than ok.
