SAT Writing section question

poniac9poniac9 Registered User Posts: 17 New Member
I'm not a native English speaker. I can talk fluently and believed that I had pretty good grammar until I took a few practice tests for the writing/grammar section. I keep getting like -15. I'm not familiar with a lot of grammar rules :/ Would it take me a very long to improve my score studying through prep books because I remember people saying how non-native speakers have a disadvantage in this section.

P.S.: I also went to a middle school and go to a high school with little emphasis on grammar rules and stuff.

This would be the easier of the two sections in English to improve - because you simply have to learn the rules! I teach SAT English in India. Learning the rules required for the SAT is doable with some time and practice!

Haha what a coincidence! I'm from India lol. It's really annoying but I will learn the rules, thanks!

The kids I tutor generally cope up well with the grammar but find the reading passages challenging. The good thing is they generally find the math section really easy!
