ACT Writing?

CCdudeCCCCdudeCC Registered User Posts: 14 New Member
I took the SAT and got a 1530 with a 7 6 7 essay. I am going to be taking the ACT in February. Should I take the ACT Essay too? I signed up for w/o essay but it says I can change it on test day. If I am going to submit both(if I do well on ACT), is just the SAT essay enough or do I need to take the ACT essay

Yes, take it with the essay to be on the safe side. You may get a better score on the ACT and want to use that one and a school may require the essay. Nice SAT score by the way.

^^ Sure but don't prep for it and definitely don't worry about it if the essay score is low. Schools tend not to care about the essay and those that require it typically use it check agains the college essays just to make sure you are the same person. Do a great job in your own voice on your essays and you won't have to worry about that.

BTW, unless you blow away the ACT (35-36) you will most likely be submitting your SAT. Or you will be submitting both. I guess I wouldn't be advising my kid to worry about the essay portion of the ACT but YMMV.

I agree. Schools don't give much weigh to the essay. Don't worry about it.
