Best time to take SAT?

edited November 2011 in SAT Preparation
Hi, I had a quick question.

Is it better to take the SAT's two times or three times? I want to take it three times, once junior year, and twice senior year.

Should I go with my planned schedule, or should I change when I take the SAT's? (twice junior year and once senior year).

I plan on studying really good over the summer, so I'd rather take the test after I had a sufficient amount of preparation. If it better to take the test twice junior year, however, please correct me.

Thank you!

Date-wise, i think October is by far the best date. The CR curve for October is historically very generous each year, and math and Writing are both average, sometimes pretty generous.

I suggest taking the SAT in March, so it will give you time to decide, once your scores come out, whether to retake it in may or june if necessary, and also when to take SAT IIs. I also suggest taking hte April ACT too.

Take it in October 2012, March 2013, and October 2013. Then again, it really depends on your schedule for the "best" time to take it. Good Luck!

I think you should first take it towards the end of your junior year and then, assuming you need to increase your score, once or twice as a senior.

You're right to schedule your test dates around your individual preparation schedule. Take it once with light preparation. Then use those results to focus your studying before you take it again. Leave time for one more optional test date in case you want to take it a third time.

Thank you everyone! I guess I will go with my initial decision of taking the SAT twice my senior year. I failed to mention, however, that I am already a junior! So I cannot take it October since it already passed. I will take it October of my senior year and possibly the following month (Nov/Dec).

@MiroKaz, I am actually signed up for your website! I have yet to take the diagnostic test, however. I will do that soon!
