Is taking SAT 4th time bad for college app?

I know it's a lot of money, but I still haven't reached my 2100, and I kinda screwed up accidentally on this Nov test, and I am confident that I will get my desired score on December :(

A lot of people gave me different responses on how many times to take SAT, but I don't know who is right and who is wrong. For colleges, I am applying to places like Brown, Vanderbilt, Chicago, and UC.

Bump, because I'm curious too. I just plan to apply to the UC system though.

It's usually frowned upon to take the SAT too many times (usually 4 or more times). It looks really "test-savvy" on college applications.

As long as you are improving, I don't think that colleges would frown upon taking around 4 SATs and for your intent, it betters your chance to superscore you SAT scores!

agreed. if youre scores are wavering in the 2000's e.g. 2030,2050,2010,2060
then it would definitely raise a red flag during admissions because its obvious that you're not really improving and it looks like you reached your "smarts" limit and shows thats what youre capable of

Do they even know how many times you take it? You get to choose the scores you send...

Taking SAT more than 3 times is not so good (my seniors said so)..as you are applying to the top colleges it may matter a bit. But don't worry bruv!!..If your GPAs and essays and good enough then retaking will not do u any harm! I know someone going to Dartmouth taking SAT 4 times. And yeah, BOL for your DEC 1 SAT!! :) I'm taking it too btw, 15 days to go....!

I took the october sat and did not get desired scores so I am taking the sat's again in december. I already applied to 3 colleges and sent in my transcript but I haven't sent in my SAT scores yet. SO, should I send in my october scores or only send december scores in? Most of the colleges I am applying to have rolling admission policy and one has a priority deadline of december 1. I might get rejected if i send in october scores or i might get rejected if I don't send any scores before december 1.... what should i do

yes many colleges can see how many times you've taken the SAT. check individual college websites for its policy on score choice. there are 3 types: best section from all test dates, best single sitting, and all scores.
schools like Upenn and Berkeley ask for all scores meaning you have to submit every single test you've taken, whereas schools like Michigan ask for Best section, so then you can superscore. so you can't just assume all schools allow superscore..
