Sat Reading

I'm an international student intending to apply US colleges. Currently, I'm preparing for SAT. In mock tests, I usually get 620 to 640 in reading&writing section. Still I feel that I can understand the reading passage clearly and most of the time I'm uncertain about my answer choice. One possible reason behind this is I'm not from an English curriculum but I'm desperate to overcome it. So, please some one give me some tips on improving my reading skill along with better understanding of the passage as a whole. It doesn't have to be only practice test, you can give me any suggestion in this case.
