We are "officially" opening CC for SAT discussions. Go ahead, post your complaints, share your feelings ... but remain polite.

Let's start with a general discussion for the SAT subjects. Later, we'll open separate threads to compile the answers that have been discussed.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Whoops didn't see your thread started already

    You can delete mine

No problem at all, Michael. We are simply trying to keep the forum as organized as possible, especially today.

Hope everyone did well on the New SAT.
Just a few questions I have.

What did you think of the New SAT with the added Writing Section?
Were the Math/Verbal Sections of the same difficulty as the Old SAT?
How accurate is the Collegeboard's New SAT book compared to the test you all took?
Math - Are there still the same tricks in questions that might be missed if you go to fast?
Verbal - Is the vocab harder now? And how are the reading passages?

It was easy. Too easy. The curve is going to be hell.

Pretty easy. Some of the Critical Reading got me screwed up.

Easier than practice tests out of the Princeton Review book, Barron's, etc.?

    All sections or only some?

I didn't use PR to review, but my friends who did said this was a lot easier than their tests from that book.

Think it was only easy because it was the first test?

Im a senior so obviously I didn't take the test. Why was it easier compared to the old SAT and/or practice tests? More straightforward math?

Ok, let's figure out what the experimental section was. I had 4 Critical Reading portions:

    1) A comparison of stories on Cloning and Genetics.
    2) A fiction piece about a woman who moved to a better neighborhood.
    3) A piece on rehabilitating old culture centers.
    4) A comparison of stories on literary translations of past works.

cramforlife: i think i either put "no error" or "any tool" which was the last one. shouldn't it say "any other tool"?

That was like my 4th writing section, but I put "any tool", because I thought it should have been "any other tool."

plus i didn't know we had to sit there for almost 5 hours!!! our proctor gave us so many breaks that it ended up being 5 hours. and i agree, the test was pretty easy in general compared to the practice tests in PR and Barrons.
But that also means the curve is going to be RIDICULOUS...

ya i was sort of debating whether to put that ("any tool-->any other") but then...ah, i dunno my life is screwed now.

A few other questions bugged me to no end.

What about the one with "Among the many discovers made possible by the invention of the telescope..." thing. I put the choice with "they" because it never said who "they" referred to

That was my answer, too, I think.

what about the one where it was like.."all of the following work for some number except..."
    and it gave you like..
    x < x^2 < x^3
    x^2 < x^3 < x
    etc...
    what was the asnwer?

i put that cp had to equal 2 because it had to be less than the other hypotenuse, which was 3 if i recall correctly.
