Yeah that's what I'm hoping for now since I've probably got 10 E/78 MC :P

Is there anyway to get 800 on the reading with just -1?

or is that merely a writing section thing?

    Hey Masochist and other 2400ers,
First of all- congratulations. I wish I possessed your dedication and wasn't so damned lazy.
I'm a high school junior, and I took the PSAT (the morning I took it was the first time I'd heard of it) and got 216. This time I'm almost positive my score has improved fairly significant though I've yet to get my results back- I felt much more confident.
I plan on taking the January SAT and I'm just starting to study now. Any tips on h wo to best go about a studying routine with about a month and a half left?

Wow, that 78/10 Writing translating to 800 is bullfark. But congrats nonetheless! Thanks for posting. I would also like to add that I struggled with the November 2008 essay topic, however, it didn't shake me from achieving my third straight 8. lol
But perhaps one day on a chilly Thursday morning you will wake up, log on to collegeboard, and before your eyes you will see something like this, and that is when you know its over.
I thought this was funny. My SAT scores look different from yours. I don't have national percentile or the 20-80 2-12 stuff... weird...

I don't follow grade curves as avidly as others here, but I would guess that -1 would just about always be 800, and -2 is usually too. Both my brother and I got 800 with -2.

Hey nice guide even though I don't need it as I've finished my SAT taking career. I still like the way you think and generally agree with you about the ideas for the 3 sections.

However, I think that the key to the reading section is just to read a lot, whether it be SAT passages or anything else. The continuous action will improve your skills a ton.

Also, I disagree about your idea on timing. I think you should just go as fast as possible, thinking on first intuition and then going back to check because the first intuition is usually correct.

    Otherwise, very nice guide

Nice job on the guide. That's what I'd recommend too, practice tests are gold if you have the time. I'd never be able to put the effort you did...

I got a 2370 (800/800/770), after doing a few Kaplan tests the month before the June 2008 SAT. Up from 214 PSAT my junior year. I'm still not sure how I actually made the jump, though...on the Kaplan tests, my max was in the low 2200s...guess it was a spark. For crammers, I'd recommend putting down $20 for a book full of practice tests, then grinding two or three out a week until the test date.

Does anyone else think the essay is slightly off-topic? I feel like it doesn't really answer the prompt. Only the last body paragraph actually addresses the idea of "unlearning" and taking on new ideas. The rest of essay is just a big block of poetry that doesn't actually say much at all.

    Anyone else have thoughts?

If that's true, and it got a 12, it should be encouraging :)
