Early Decision II Notification?

edited January 2012 in Scripps College
Hello again!
As it now pretty much qualifies as "mid-February," I was wondering if anyone has any word on the admissions decisions timeline! Or if anyone else is about ready to spontaneously combust from nerves. Also, for us boarding school attendees, does anyone in this situation who has previously received a decision know if the letters go to our permanent (home) address or our current (school) address? Thanks, as always, for your time! Best of luck with ED II decisions!

I called the admissions office on Wednesday and was told that the admission decision were to be handled via email this year and that they would be sent on Friday, 2/11 by the end of the business day. My daughter called at 4 pm on Friday and was told the same--that they had to honor their protocol and that no decisions would be given over the phone. Well, she never received an email yesterday at all, and we are dismayed that the school would promise and not deliver. This was extremely stressful and made her very sad. She had expected to have her answer yesterday as promised. We are not happy about the way the office has handled this. Especially since I was told that all decisions, positive and negative, would be sent via email on Friday. I hope she hears on Monday. And I wonder of the admissions officers know that the people answering the phone, likely students, had promised these emails for yesterday.

Oh, I am so glad to see that I wasn't the only one who didn't get an email!! I called Friday at about 3 p.m. to check when EDII students would be notified, and I was told that they sent the admissions letters that day, and that we'd recieve email notification later that night. I was definitely surprised to hear about the email part- I thought Scripps didn't do email notification.

Anyway. What followed Friday night was basically just hours of constantly refreshing my email and ending up extremely disappointed. I just hope that they weren't wrong about the actual letters being sent out Friday, and maybe those will come sooner than the alleged emails.

Wow! Thanks for the information, I had no idea about all of this! I'm kind of glad I didn't; I would have been refreshing for hours, I'm sure. I wonder how long admissions letters take to get to New York....I wish the best for you guys! Crossing my fingers.

I don't suppose they'd send emails out on a Saturday, would they? The admissions office would probably be closed, I assume. I'm sure they have a good reason for the delay, so I guess that all we can do it wait. And possibly cut off my internet to resist the urge to check every three minutes....

Yeah, I wouldn't expect anything until Monday at the earliest. But who knows? They're a strange breed, these admissions people... :P

Haha, I'm trying my best to not worry and put it out of my mind but uh, that's not working out so well.

Haha, right there with you. Eek! This is insanely stressful. I feel like I'm checking my email every minute. I just want to know; I've never wanted the weekend to be over so quickly! It's just weird knowing that our answers are sitting in an envelope somewhere (hopefully a big one...)
I need to stop thinking like this. Seriously. Agh.

It would just be so amazing to go to Scripps.

Hi everyone, sorry to hear about absent emails! I'm sure you all checked junk mail, as well?

Waiting for snail mail sucks, especially considering that everyone in California will hear a few days before the rest of the country... but when I applied to Scripps we didn't have email notifications or a nifty admissions portal. (and now I feel old...)

Knowing the admissions people as I do, I'm sure they told everyone the emails would come on Friday in good faith. But sometimes technology does not work the way we want it to... c'est la vie. Believe me when I tell you that they are not maliciously withholding your admissions decisions-- they are just as excited to give you the good news as you are to get it!

Yep, junk mail has been checked too. I'm sure that it's a universal issue seeing as everyone seems to be having it, so I don't think we should be too concerned. I'm just trying to keep it out of my mind, but of course that doesn't work. I wonder if anything would change on the portal to indicate their decision? probably not. I think us candidates just need to sit tight and try to distract ourselves for now! Here's to hoping for good news on Monday.

I'm having an internal debate as to whether or not to call today; It would be nice to know if everything is backed up and maybe get a firmer time so that I don't have to obsessively check my email and such. Is anyone else planning on calling the office?

I got into Scripps EDI and I'm finding it hard to believe that they said they would email your decision. I got my decision in the mail on December 22nd which was pretty late to hear back from an early decision school. Don't worry though your decision will be hear soon enough, but I know how anxious you all are!
