Merit Aid? Porter Only?

Is the Porter Presidential Scholarship the ONLY merit aid that Skidmore offers (not counting the Filene Music)? If you aren't one of the 5 students who get a porter, you get no merit aid at all?

I was about to reply that I thought they gave out more than that, but after a little digging I'll have to concede that it looks like those two scholarships are it.

I saw "5-7" Porters offered each year, if that makes you feel any better, LOL

While those might be the only merit scholarships, we found that the school provided a great financial package. I had originally told my daughter she was wasting her time because their finaid numbers looked atrocious at best lol but in the end they gave the best package of the 15 schools where she was accepted.

That's really interesting. So did they it need based or merit based in the end? If It was considered as need based, did it vary drastically from the net price calculator?

Yes, I would say the end price was drastically different from NPC but ours was a bit complicated with a personal business and separate paternity order so most of them were not accurate. It is my understanding that "need" must be evident in some amount but there is " preferential packaging" for the students they want, in our case a highly qualified STEM student. Skidmore is trying to build their science program so I would highly recommend those going into the sciences take a shot and pay the admit fee if Skidmore is a solid choice for them regardless of what the NPC says.
