Aside from completing the Latin Honors distribution, is there any other way for someone to wear something special at graduation? Are there any other sort of honors? Do individuals that complete a senior thesis get to wear anything?

My d. had Latin Honors, departmental honors, thesis, Kahn Fellowship, and senior honors award, and wore a viking helmet with horns.

There are many various honors but the only one that gets a special garment is Summa Cum Laude; those who earned it get a gold tassel thingy for their mortarboard instead of black and a gold something-or-another cord that drapes around the shoulders and hangs down on either side.
