Anyone care to guess as to what date they will release the decisions this year? I would assume it would be December 6th or December 13th based on the recent history of announcing on a Friday, but I will admit that it's just a guess.

Does anyone know when Interview requests go out?

Sometime between when they receive your application and the REA deadline. My daughter applied in early August and was contacted last weekend and interviewed earlier this week. Not getting a request doesn't mean anything other than a lack of availability of an alumnus in your area before the deadline, so don't worry too much about it.

Our son submitted his app Oct 30, received interview request Nov 2, and interviewed on Nov 3.

So I guess it just depends.

Hello everyone! Good luck to all those applying to Stanford REA. Looking at previous years, I'm pretty confident that decisions will come out on Dec. 13th and if we're lucky, maybe the 6th. I'm so excited... literally Stanford is the dream

Just in case anyone is interested in the previous years, here's something I stole from an older thread and updated to include 2018:

    STANFORD NOTIFICATION HISTORY
    ====================
    December 7, 2018 (Friday)
    December 8, 2017 (Friday)
    December 9, 2016 (Friday)
    December 11, 2015 (Friday)
    December 12, 2014 (Friday)
    December 13, 2013 (Friday)
    December 14, 2012 (Friday)
    December 9, 2011 (Friday)
    December 10, 2010 (Friday)
    December 9, 2009 (Wednesday)
    December 12, 2008 (Friday)
    December 14, 2007 (Friday)
    December 15, 2006 (Friday)
    December 15, 2005 (Thursday)
    December 10, 2004 (Friday)
    December 10, 2003 (Wednesday)
    December 17, 2002 (Tuesday)
    December 11, 2001 (Tuesday)

Recently, the results have been available on the portal at 4PM PST on the release date and then an email is sent out sometime between 4PM and 5PM. Some people say that they didn't get emails (possible that they were caught in spam filters, but that's just a guess).

A bit of a rant if you don't mind:

So I applied October 25 just so I could keep some of my nerves calm and ensure everything was in on time. November 1 rolled around...no issues. But I really wanted to have an interview. Stanford says interviews for REA are held within the first few weeks of November (the deadline I eventually found out is this coming Monday, November 18). This was also my first college interview, which I really was hoping I'd have some practice at this point.

Anywho, I started stressing immediately because no one had reached out to me for an interview even though I live in an area where they are held (someone from my school last year had a 3 hour one!). My best friend told me not to stress until November 8. At midnight on November 7, I texted her that the stressing had begun.

Flash forward to Thursday night of this week, I'm stressing like crazy, checking my emails like every 15 minutes, but still no sign. Then, at 10:32 pm, I got an email from my interviewer asking if I was available Friday (yesterday) at 3:30. The email had ALOT of spelling errors so for a second I thought it was my friend playing a joke on me through a fake email. I looked into the person who had sent it, and she turned out to be a real person who studied at Stanford, Oregon, and now works at Navy.

I said I was available and we agreed to meet at my place of work. Then the nervousness overcame me. I frantically started jotting down notes for the interview and questions to ask her. I even had my dad "mock interview" me for practice, and my best friend did the same at lunch Friday (she already had interviews for MIT and Georgetown). I stopped working on my homework and opted to turn in homework passes the next day instead.

Friday rolled around and I could hardly pay attention the entire day. Upon dismissal, my best friend gave me a box of "stress mints" (supposedly contain chemicals that clam your nerves) which surprisingly helped my heart slow from racing the past 15 hours. I drove directly from school to work, changed in the car, and found a booth inside to sit at. My heart started racing again so I drank some water and took a few more mints.

I waited and waited. Now it was 3:45. I checked my email and it turns out my interviewer had car troubles. She ended up being 30 minutes late. I really didn't mind because it gave me an opportunity to review my notes, calm my nerves a bit more, and scroll through some TIkToks while simultaneously rating to my friends over Snapchat.

She showed up and my whole mood changed. It was nothing as I expected. By the time the interview (more like a casual conversation) was over, my cheeks hurt so much from smiling and my throat hurt from the amount of laughing we did. I think at one point the entire restaurant was looking at us like we were two bafoons. I don't even recall her aksing any of the stereotypical questions like "Why Stanford? What's your biggest asset? Worst regret? Tell me about yourself." All the answers to those questions just came out naturally. Even the first bit of convo was on planes and aviation, my passion.

Not only did I learn so much about Stanford, but my interviewer as well and the general type of student they are looking for. She explained to me the reason for Stanford interviews are not to see if you're smart or not but to know if your essays and application weren't a facade - that your essays actually reflected your character. The interview lasted an hour-and-a-half

At the end of it all, we both said our thank you's and went our separate ways. Looking back, all the stress was for nothing. The interview ended up being a conversation about our lives, our interests, and what I hope to get out of life.

So if any of you have an interview coming up, don't stress. It's gonna be A-ok ;^)

***Please keep in mind this is merely a reflection of my interviewing experience. For the most part, this is how I expect most interviews to go. There are plenty of interview horror stories out there on CC and Reddit, just don't let them go to your head like I let them do for me.

TL;DR: Interview time was approaching, and I hadn't been contacted. I was contacted at the last minute and stressed like crazy. The interviewer was late but ended up being the best hour-and-a-half of my past week. DON'T STRESS.

The results are most likely to come out on the 13th, the second Friday of December, right? I submitted my application on Oct 27 and the wait has been frustrating! I've been to Stanford for my brother's graduation this year and I'm really hoping I get in. Good luck to everyone!! Hang in there for 13 more days :)

If past history is any indication, it will most likely be released at 4PM PST on a Friday (either the 6th or the 13th). They will most likely announce something on the engage Stanford twitter account and possibly the website 1-3 days before the date that decisions are released. Most likely, someone will update this thread when they see the announcement. The only thing that we can say for certain is that they will be released on or before the 15th, which is coming fast!

How are your preparations for other (regular decision) schools coming? Personally, I've put a lot of hope into Stanford (I know I shouldn't) so it's been super tough for me to focus on other schools' writing supplements while I wait for Stanford decision release. If you guys are having the same problem, try not to worry too much because we've done all we can and do what you should be doing now!

I feel that last one in my soul. Need to write more but need the motivating sting of rejection to start. Hopefully the decision comes out on the sixth so I can move on sooner.

^ I'm trying to get my Regular Decision apps ready before Stanford decisions come out, but I feel so anxious about it that I can't write.

I feel your pain! It hasn't been too horrible for my regular decision applications elsewhere. This is mainly because my school is hardcore dedicated to college prep tasks. We have a two-hour block period every day for the senior class to work on college and scholarship applications, resumes, job shadows, and other college/life preparatory activities. Not to mention we have to turn everything in for a grade. That grade part is quite motivating (especially since I'm in the running for valedictorian). But I can agree that getting motivated on other applications has been difficult. Oregon State is one of my safety schools, and it took me from August 1st to just a few days ago to get it done. To motivate myself for all the writing, I would just try and write about topics that I'm passionate about. I know, I know, that's what we're supposed to be doing in the first place (generally), but I really dug deep and found topics that I could discuss forever (not helpful for my word count...lol). When writing about the things I loved, I found that it was much easier to complete.

After applying to 8 colleges, though, I can say with certainty that if anyone asks me to write another essay, I'll cry.

On a completely different subject, all the discussion on this thread about decision dates is giving me life. I have been die-hard "December 15th is the day. No earlier. No later," since I submit my application on September 20th. Seeing that there is a possibility they will come out in the next week/week and a half (and reading everyone else's research) has given me a boost of excitement in addition to a significant dose of anxiety.

I hope everyone is well and that your college application process is going amazingly. It's certainly an incredible time of our lives, and I'm personally quite excited for our next chapter. Hopefully, I'll see you all at Stanford

Other than Stanford, I applied to UC San Diego, University of Southern California, Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo), Oregon State University, Colorado State, and Colorado School of Mines.

Per the official date, I'm really, really praying that decisions come out Friday!

So many other places! Tomorrow represents the first day where we can start expecting official confirmation from Stanford as historically, a message has been released 1-3 days before decision day. Will be checking Instagram pretty regularly.
