UC Santa Cruz Credits

I am officially starting my freshman year of college in fall 2014 at zzz UCSC. However, I would like to get ahead and accumulate credits before I officially start college in order to get a head start. I will start by passing an AP exam in May. My question is, are there summer programs like some kind of summer program I can join at my nearby community colleges that I could take summer classes and get credits put towards my college studies?
