How selective is the JSA summer program?

One of my friends is currently attending it and made a big deal about how important it was. She's into government and all that, and shes taking an AP Gov course at Princeton. She says that it'll have a huge impact on her college apps.

I'm wondering how true that is. I signed up for the program too, and although I didn't apply, I put in my phone number online and I literally got 7 or 8 calls from people asking me to apply. No other program that I signed up for did that..
