Does anyone know anything about UChicago's Research in the Biological Sciences summer program, or how hard it is to get in?

I know several kids who went there and said it was basically a big waste of money and that research assignments were really arbitrary and could be bad. Although you can get lucky and get a good project.

My son tells me the kids in RIBS are very mitivated. The day is consumned from 930 to 600 in the lab with more discussion among students in the evening. Granted it is too expensive, but the program seem to be very good.
