Transferring from CUNY (freshman, second term) > Spring 2016

Hello! I'm currently attending a CUNY as a freshman - my first semester. However, throughout the few months I've been here, I've decided that this is not the school for me and want to transfer. I've been looking into transferring to SB for Spring 2016 and have sent my application in. I've heard the chances of getting accepted as a second-semester student are slim, but I am hoping for the best. I want to hear my chances simply based on my high school grades.
I attended one of the top specialized high schools with an 85-87 average by the end of my four years and have taken 1 AP course my senior year (AP Stat). I received a 2120 on my SATs - 800 in math, 650 in reading, 670 in grammar.
Additionally, are there any more supplements I need to hand in besides high school transcripts? If I decided to take a break for the rest of the fall semester at CUNY would it affect the decision for my acceptance?
Thanks in advance all!

Did you apply to Stony Brook while a senior in high school? Are you part of any Honors Program at the CUNY you are attending? I would suggest you finish your current semester (maybe the entire year) with good grades and then transfer. Can you explain why the CUNY institution doesn't meet your needs and why do you think SB would be any better? Which CUNY are we talking about?

Hello, I'm a freshman for 2016 spring. Who has received any acceptance letters from CUNY.

trust me, applying for spring semester is very slim, considering the fact that only less than 1000 kids get accepted as transfers this semester. i tried applying to stony as a 2nd semester. i attended a non specialized hs- graduated with a 91 and my sats were in the 2000 range. i thought these stats would def get me in stony but sadly i didnt get accepted so i waited till i had 24+ credits. i applied for spring semester 2016! so basically you should NOT take a break and make sure you have 24+ & 3.0+ gpa

Here i copy and pasted an answer from another post by Chris, from admissions.

"If all of that (your first semester AND your HS/SAT/ACT) is strong, then your chances are probably good, although we admit *very few* students who are in that situation. If your first semester was strong but your SATs are weak, then your best bet is probably to hold off on sending us documentation until you have your spring grades and you've crossed that 24 credit threshold. Your chances at transfer admission improve if you're in that 24-60 credit range with a solid GPA and strong courses. "

Your sat scores are good but your gpa isnt. If youre applying with less than 24 credits you should hand in your SAT scores as well. Im assuming if youre already enrolled at your current college why would you take a break? I dont think a WU or a W would look nice on your transcript. But good luck to you!
