Cons of going to cal

  • homesick
  • no one to help me in case something happens
  • i get health issues when stressed
  • bus all the time
  • less familiar with city
  • the buildings have no ac, depressing feel
  • I feel less in control at cal
  • tbh i think i chose bu for convenience :frowning: i also was planning to defer but wasn’t sure if I could for cal. Not to mention the ai sector and everything… if I did turn down bu id have no prestigoius universities to fall back on the next year if i did reapply and in case in a year something happens and going to cal isn’t as great then im still near my network.
  • also im kind of chilling in terms of base finances and since im the only person familiar with what I do i decided to just chillax. i lowk almost died getting in cal which is why i regret it sm, but ill just make the most of bu. smth i realized is that cal is a huge achievement even for wealthy kids … its a nice flex but it doesn’t garuntee anything. if i just stay where i am live the same day everyday its almost garunteed i dont have any issues. idek what i want to do in the future… ai, tech, bio suddenley i can explore interests without having to specialize. cal would have been great for that…i didnt go cuz i just felt like i would have been healthier where i am now.

i actually wouldnt have turned down standford if i got in… but i turned down berkeley…cal is lowk where i’d want to be anyway…idk maybe i was shortsighted but i remember all the health issues i got from chasing prestige so thats while i put on the breaks in the final moment and chose bu.

idk 1m + health + pretty good upside, possibility for assymetric upside or 1m (balancing a lot of thing) + maybe health + potential assymetric upside :frowning:

if i fix my health first i live another day, if i go chase success and prestige nothing matters if you’re not healthy. im contradicting my views for once because i always thought the assymetric opportunity was always worth it, but no one tells you what it costs if you’re not ready.
