<p>So all this time I’ve been thinking that I can still apply to a CSU with a D+ on my transcript, but after talking to some of my friends I’m not so sure. I take Latin as my foreign language, and I got a B- and a D+ in Junior year in Latin 3 (second semester was significantly harder), but my other grades are all A’s and B’s. I also passed Latin 1 and 2 with straight B’s. My GPA is around a 3.55 or something the last time I checked, and I got an 1830 on the SAT. I also passed the AP exams for both Human Geography and US History. I’m in Latin 4 right now despite the D+ from last year. Does the D+ stop me from applying to any CSU’s or UC’s?</p>
<p>I do not think it should stop you from applying. I do not know about your schools specifically, but some schools are impressed that you took Latin in the first place considering that it is so hard, and will admire your ambition to complete for years of the language. Many know how difficult Latin is, and MAY be willing to overlook a poor grade in it, depending on the school. </p>
<p>Do not get me wrong, a D+ is not an awesome thing to have on your transcript, but you should be thankful that it is in Latin and not a different foreign language.</p>
<p>At first I was under the impression that Cal States and Cal Unis don’t accept D’s at all on applications, but on their A-G requirements it only lists that you need two years of a foreign language. I got my D+ in the second semester of the third year after passing the previous two, so I’m not sure about how big of a factor it’s gonna play. It still doesn’t look very good on my app of course. I’ve also heard from others who got a D in Latin 3 last year in the same class with me that the D+ is bumped up if we pass Latin 4? Should’ve done my research earlier</p>
