<p>Hello, I am a sophomore at Montgomery Blair High School (Magnet Program). My question is, in college admissions, how much will a qualification for the University of MD high school math competition PartII (which usually hovers around 220 people for all of MD) help in college admissions? And, on that note, how much will an AIME qualification help for college admissions (around 120 qualifiers in MD)? Of course, this is assuming that one is aiming for a high tier college, HYPS etc.</p>
<p>AIME qualification definitely helps, but at the top schools (usually engineering schools), lots of applicants will have qualified for AIME. If you make USAMO or MOP that’ll definitely set you apart from the rest. Still doesn’t guarantee admission, but it’ll give you a really good chance.</p>
