<p>I’m a high school junior, and i’ve consistently barely passed my math classes and english classes with with Ds. But, my other classes have been well, and i’ve done very well in my arts classes and history classes throughout these past years. I’m currently taking an advanced Theatre class, made it into Chorale (advanced singing), am taking IBH American History and currently have a B+, and i’m taking IBH English as well (its required), and am doing exceptionally well with a rising B+. My cumulative GPA so far is a 2.62. I currently have 2 Bs, 3 As, and 2 Ds (in algebra and chemistry), so my GPA right now is a 3.1. Next semester I will be taking a zero hour class that i’ve taken for what is now 3 years (Forensics [NFL]), which is a competitive extra-curricular activity involving speech, acting, and debate (my events being Dramatic Interpretation and Poetry). In this class I know i’ll have an A.
I attend the #1 high school in my state and #64 in the nation, I was invited in the 8th grade. Every year students are kicked out because of GPAs below 2.5, will colleges recognize my achievement in remaining at the school, even though i’m number 118 in my class of 145 right now.
My major in college will be either Arts Management, Music Business, or Entertainment Industry/Business (all leading to the same desired profession which does not involve math or science).
I feel that it is important to mention that though my grades in English have been low, it and Writing are the areas where I score highest on the SAT with scores around 820 in English and the 600s in Writing, while only getting around the 200s in Math.
What would a college admissions office think?
I tend to only look at schools with a 70% admission rate or higher, let me know if you think that I’d be ok to lower my admission rate requirement and to what percent. I aim to go to school in a large city (it increases my chance of finding a successful, talented, and suitable marriage candidate).</p>
