chances at Cornell

<p>SAT- 2050 (700 critical reading, 680 math, 670 writing)</p>

<p>SATII- Math IIC- 730 US History- 790 Literature- 650</p>

<p>GPA- I have a 95.5 average, which I believe equals a 4.0 This is without adding 5 points to every AP class I've taken, which is what I've heard some schools do.</p>

<p>APs- 5 on European History, 5 on US History, 5 on English Literature</p>

<p>Taking AP Calculus, AP Italian, AP Government/Politics, AP Biology, and AP English Composition this year, as well as Economics(12th grade that is)</p>

<p>Extracuricular- Varsity Tennis 4 years, National Honor Society, and a whole lot of other stretched out b.s. including one year of varsity wrestling.</p>

<p>Basically, compared to some of these people, I have no real extracuriculars, and my SATs are not IVY quality. But my AP scores are good and my GPA is good. Do I have a shot at Cornell with early decision?</p>

<p>Is there any chance you could study hard and retake the SAT? Your SAT II scores are pretty good. What's your class rank? What's your ethnicity/where do you live? To which school at cornell are you applying? If you're in-state, that will make a difference to the state sponsered schools. Your EC's are TERRIBLE. Will you be a captain of the tennis team next year? Can you find a way to write an essay about tennis? You definitely have a CHANCE early decision, just like everyone does, and you'll never know unless you apply. Good luck.</p>

<p>It's college confidential, so I'll just ask, (please bear in mind this is hypothetical, to be honest, I don't really have an intention to lie, but I've always wondered about this)
Can you make up extra curiculars? Do they actually check any of the jobs you've been to? I mean, what stops me from saying I've worked every summer at some random store, or for that matter, that I've done 2 years of Varsity Soccer, can I do this?</p>

<p>P.S. I'm white, and I go to a good public high school, so that basically ruins my chances. Also, I'm not applying to a state school, but to engineering.</p>

<p>Also, being white and going to a good HS does not ruin your chances considering a high % of Cornellians are white and went to a good HS.</p>

<p>There is Ethics... and a conscience ... its good to have these qualities every now and then ... Besides, you'd have to be pretty desperate do cheat. Having said that I doubt an admissions officer would really check every single little detail on your application.</p>

<p>but hey you gotta remember that the world isn't perfect and that there ACTUALLY ARE unethical people. I think norcalguy has better sense than to make up information, but just for the purpose of curiosity and discussion, couldn't you just make up details? I mean there are several thousand applicants i think like 18,000, who has time to check every detail on each one?</p>
