<p>strong grades, scores, and EC’s… the only thing I might say is lacking (at least in your description) is an obvious passion. whatever that is, make sure it comes through, because your EC’s are kinda all over the place. out of the seven top schools, i’m sure you’ll get into two at least.</p>
<p>I wrote an essay for princeton and harvard about how I gave up volleyball for other interests such as school, leadership, music, etc…and in my common app essay there’s a paragraph about how piano is my passion? (I’ve been playing for 12 years =P)</p>
<p>Realistically, your grades, ECs, and SATs are about average for an Ivy or Stanford applicant, maybe a tad higher. Consequently, depending on the school, you have a 10% to 20% chance of being accepted - ie, about average chances (though your class rank may improve the odds a bit). The only exception is Cornell, which has somewhat lower standards and accepts about 30% of its applicants. For Cornell, your stats are above average, so I’d say you’d most likely be accepted by Cornell and rejected or wait-listed by the rest.</p>
<p>I just want to add that your grades, ECs, and SAT scores are impressive but…Nearly everyone who applies to HYPS etc. has similar stats and qualifications. If you get in, it would be great - and it’s not out of the question - but don’t expect it.</p>

but beside that, wow, you are amazing, but i think you were defered b/c last years EA(Harvard) accepted Canadian applicant was a lot stronger, i personally know one of them, and i am sorry to say your stats while they are terrific are far from the accepted stats! however you would probably be accepted to one of the ivies, but Harvard is a reach.

<p>being asian and being particularly skilled at math and piano will work against you. read northstarmom’s post in harvard EA’s deferral thread. Also, i know there’s been a bunch of people who applied Harvard EA from my city who won a buncha gold medals on those fermant etc math contests, and still got deferred. look at pengshi, canadian, Canada IMO team bronze medalist + canada engineering olympiad gold got deferred EA. </p>
<p>oh ya, and i’m a senior in Calgary and applying to those schools too! GL to us both.</p>
<p>I’m actually really hoping to get into Columbia, because I know schools like Harvard, Princeton, Yale, and Stanford are reaches. But I love NYC so I’m really crossing my fingers there…and I really should have applied ED to Columbia instead of EA to Harvard…the ED admittance rate for Columbia’s engineering school was pretty high this year.</p>

<p>i have an interview with a princeton alum on saturday and im a bit nervous. though i don’t really think i have that great of a chance at princeton…dont they interview everyone? anyway. some input about my chances would be great.</p>
but what about Columbia SEAS? I thought the acceptance rate for SEAS was around 20%?</p>
