Coach referral have any effect?

<p>I have connections with a debate coach at a school I was waitlisted to. I didn’t contact him before because I knew that I probably wouldn’t get “recruited” for debate. However, now that I’m on the waitlist, does CC think that a referral from a debate coach would be enough to get off the waitlist? I know that colleges choose waitlisted students based on “institutional needs”, so I was hoping that this would help. </p>

<p>If I were on a WL and really wanted the school, I’d send periodic updates with anything I had to show what I’d bring to the school. I don’t think there’s a downside in sending the LOR from your debate coach.</p>

<p>How should I phrase the email? I just can’t think of a courteous way to ask the coach to advocate for me…</p>
