Computer Math

Is computer math a good class to take during high school? Do colleges look for this class when reviewing applications?

Don’t do a class just because you think it’ll look good on your application, do what YOU want to do, then find a college that matches with YOU.

Unless you mean a college course in discrete math normally taken by computer science majors in college, such a course is likely to be useless for preparing for college.

Even discrete mathematics is unlikely to be preferred over calculus by college admission committees. High schools have been teaching calculus courses for a long, long time. It’s hard to tell what a HS course labelled “computer math” even means.

“computer math” can mean practically anything. Ask yourself: do the top students take this class? Or is it a less rigorous class. Colleges will wonder do you like pushing yourself – not the titles on your transcript. Is this pushing yourself? Do you like to be pushed? Answer these.
