let's say you put something down for hours/week and weeks/year for ur community service hours on a uc app.. do the UC's call up that club and check to verify if its correct?! or do they just take ur word for it ..

I think they have a policy of checking a random 10% of admits, but they just check to make sure your not completely making stuff up. They're not going to have the time to call every club or organization you're a part of, but they could possibly call the counselor at your high school or something like that. As long as you're not blatently lying (ie saying you are the captain of the basketball team when you don't even play) I think you'd be fine.

i'm quite sure that ucs don't call your counselor because they don't require counselor recommendation letters like most privates. ucs verify ecs by sending out random verification letters.

If you're being honest you should have nothing to worry about . . . ..

This thread has a great news article regarding UC verification of ECs...
