This seems like a stupid question but...what is EA?

Many colleges that usually make regular admission decisions between February and April of your senior year in high school may have Early Action (EA) or Early Decision (ED), although usually not both. For both programs, you need to apply and get all necessary things in by sometime in October or November of your senior year in high school, and then the college will give a decision on admission usually sometime in December. Under EA programs, if admitted, you can then still choose to go to another college. Under ED programs, if admitted, you agree to attend that college and withdraw all other applications.
