Early Action. Advantage?

Early Decision and action plans seem to have advantage
over people who are trying to apply to selective colleges.
however that is for people who meet the criteria of the schools.
how about people who have little lower gpas, sat score?
for an example,
I am trying to apply to MIT for early action.

the average gpa accepted for regular admission is 3.31,
but the average gpa accept for early action is 3.55
I have a gpa of 3.45 UW, 4.25 W.
Will i have a higher chance to apply for regular decision?

One more question, my dad is currently a visiting professor @ MIT,
will that be give me little boost to get accepted?
Thanks
